Under the hood
How the free generator builds a clash-free timetable
It works the way a timetabler does, only faster. First it checks whether your setup is solvable at all — whether the week has enough slots for the periods you have asked for, and whether each subject's teachers have enough available time to cover every class. If something cannot fit, it tells you which constraint is the blocker instead of failing silently.
Next it assigns a teacher to every class-and-subject pairing, balancing the weekly load so no one is scheduled to their limit while a colleague sits idle. Then it places each lesson into the week — hardest first, so subjects tied to a single room such as the science lab or the sports hall are settled before the flexible ones — backtracking whenever a placement makes a later lesson impossible, and preferring slots that spread a subject across the week rather than stacking it into one day.
Finally it re-checks the finished timetable for double-booked teachers, classes and rooms, and shows you the clash count. Everything happens in your browser — nothing you type leaves your device.

Do I need an account to try the generator?
No. The demo runs entirely in your browser — change the classes, subjects, teachers and rooms, press Generate, and you get a conflict-free timetable immediately. It is a demonstration of how Skoolia schedules rather than a free version of it, so it stops at a single small year group; timetabling an actual school runs on Skoolia.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The free generator solves the timetable locally in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, and your setup is kept only in your own browser storage so it is still there when you come back.
Why is the demo limited to three teachers?
Because it is a demonstration, not a free product. 2 classes, 5 subjects and 3 teachers is roughly one department — enough to show teacher and room clash prevention, day-off constraints and specialist-room binding working on real data, and deliberately not enough to schedule a school. The engine itself is not the constraint; the limit is. Scheduling an actual school, across year groups, departments and campuses, runs on Skoolia.
What conflicts does it prevent?
A teacher is never in two rooms at once, a class never has two lessons at the same time, a room is never double-booked, teachers are never scheduled on their day off, and no class gets the same subject more than twice in one day. Subjects tied to a specific room — science in the lab, PE in the sports hall — only ever appear there, and that room is not used for anything else. The result is checked again after generation and the clash count is shown on screen.
Why did it say no timetable exists?
Because the constraints you set genuinely cannot all be satisfied — for example more weekly periods than the week has slots, or a subject whose teachers do not have enough available time to cover every class. The generator tells you which constraint is the blocker and what to change.
How is this different from Skoolia’s timetabling?
